Optional spoken text
Choose Read aloud in the reading panel to listen to this page, or listen to the current step or complete guide.
Start, pause, resume, stop and reading speed are under your control. Nothing plays automatically. Voices depend on your browser and device; a voice matching the page language is required. The same text remains available to screen readers.
Using the site without sound
Instructions, navigation, progress and messages are written on screen.
No essential step requires sound. The guide has both a step-by-step view and a complete text view. A single control at the left screen edge opens the reading popup beside it. The popup stays fixed while you scroll and can be moved.
- No audio-only instructions or notifications
- Complete guide text without playback or time limits
- Any future audio needs a transcript; video with sound needs captions, including speakers and meaningful sounds
What is included
The foundation uses semantic landmarks, labelled controls, text alongside sensory indicators, visible keyboard focus, a skip link and responsive layouts.
Essential information is never conveyed by colour alone.
- No autoplay, essential animation, adverts or visitor account requirement
- Keyboard-accessible visit steps and previous / next controls
- Reading settings for larger text, dark appearance, high contrast and spacing
- Reduced-motion preferences respected
What remains to verify
Automated checks and browser testing support the foundation.
Manual screen-reader audits, professional translation review and testing with users remain required before the pilot. Future image uploads must include meaningful alternative text.
